2012 Workshop
The second annual SRC spring workshop brought together faculty from departments across campus via discussions of recent proposal submitted to NSF, NOAA, and NASA and of projects that have already been funded in the United States and around the globe. Discussions at the workshop helped refine SRC’s focus for the coming year(s):
- Key Goal: Our key goal is to raise UNH’s capacity in sustainability science, particularly related to an increase in the submission and acceptance of significant, cutting edge, high quality, interdisciplinary proposals.
- Focus Areas: SRC sustainability science research efforts over the 2012-13 AY will focus on the integration of three areas of particular UNH strength, with a continued geographic focus on Great Bay/Gulf of Maine:
- Sustainable agriculture and food systems
- Public health ecology
- Water quality and quantity
- Resources: In addition to supporting several SRC Faculty Fellows, the SRC will provide funds to support:
- Strategic visits to federal funding agencies (in collaboration with the SVP Research Office) or other research institutions for individuals working on sustainability science research proposals.
- Invited speakers and associated round table discussions on particular topics of interest to the SRC members.
- Proposal preparation and submission (budgets, current and pending; CVs; other documents as required).
