Peace Out/Blackout!
Tuesday night, October 20!
Energy Captains, this is a great way to get your fellow residents involved in the Energy Challenge!
- THINGS TO DO (instead of being in your dark room): Go outside and play frisbee, hangout in the common area/lounge, homework at the library (they have to have their energy on anyway!), work out, eat at the dining hall, play awesome games in the dark.
- HOW: unplug appliances (your fridge might be tough), turn off the heat, shut off printers, computers, tv, microwave, unplug cell chargers, turn off the lights.
- WHY: it's a fun way to save energy and an easy sustainable choice for an hour! Make it a weekly event for your dorm during the Energy Challenge! Help EVERYONE in your area win an awesome sustainable prize!
Mission
To engage fellow UNH Durham students in environmentally sustainable behaviors in order to foster an atmosphere of increased sustainability awareness, thinking, and living among on-campus residents.
Goals and Objectives
- To help students connect larger environmental issues to their daily lives, studies, and choices at UNH.
- To promote thinking and discussion about environmental sustainability among students.
- To engage students in eco-friendly behaviors that will last a lifetime.
- To work with UNH faculty and staff to ensure that the student perspective and voice are heard in sustainability discussions -- and to work with them to transform UNH into a sustainable learning community.
